Troupe History / The Vision

The tragic dance drama Astra is a waltz-ballet based upon a new libretto by David Wilkinson, which draws on dark themes from Edgar Allan Poe's stories "Metzengerstein" and "Ligeia." It is performed to an original score by composer Regan Remy and evolves from the 19th century classical style and orchestration of imperial Austria to the 21st century's cosmopolitan and trans-cultural Gothic form; the two united under the discipline of the waltz.

Wilkinson and Remy continue an ongoing creative dialogue between story and music, characters and artistic expressions.

Bringing Autumn Fawn on board to produce the Los Angeles premiere of Astra has put fire to the vision!  Things are heating up with The Astra Dance Company as they continue to build their creative and production teams for the Halloween 2010 premiere.  Look for us at exciting and historical venues such as the Music Box at the Fonda and the landmark Million Dollar Theater in downtown Los Angeles.
