Emerald BallApril 10, 2011
Astra Dance
Company's own producer, Autumn Fawn is also a competitive Ballroom
dancer and will be competing for the second consecutive year at the 3rd
largest competition in the United States. Having competed last year with
then partner, D Valentine in the Bronze division, this dynamic duo
placed First in all their events. Autumn Fawn returns to the Emerald
this year with professional partner Sonny Perry to compete in Silver
American Smooth Standard. These two powerful dancers will also be
presenting a performance piece from ADC's original Waltz-ballet, Astra.
They will be performing a two-minute piece from Act II, entitled "Gothic
Gloom" and will dance to the original music by Regan Remy. Autumn is
most grateful for this opportunity and is proud to represent the Astra
Dance Company and dance the role of Astra, once again!
The Making of a Dream - Behind the ScenesMarch 16, 2011
Astra
Dance Company's first foray into film. ADC began shooting a documentary
in June 2008, while preparing for their first show which would travel
to Black Rock City, Nevada to be performed at Burning Man. It has just
wrapped in post production and has begun submitting to film festivals.
This film captures the dynamic and often volatile backstage and behind
the scenes look at production. Directed and produced by Autumn Fawn,
"The Making of a Dream - Behind the Scenes" tells the story of the
blood, sweat and tears of production that go into any (and every)
production that has ever found its way to the stage, with the additional
challenges of deserts and duststorms--and the Burning Man specialty of
live fire! A moving soundtrack, exciting editing, and the thrill of live
theater combine in the documentary to make it every bit as entertaining
as it is inspiring and educational.
Million Dollar ShowNovember 1, 2010
Mounted
at the historical Million Dollar Theater in downtown Los Angeles in
October, 2010, as part of the revival on Broadway in the theater
district, "Astra" featured the young and talented duo, Kelli Divincen
and Hai Cohen, who heated up the stage in this fiery love story. Seen on
the hit Fox TV show "So You Think You Can Dance" Kelli was positively
spell binding as the passionate lead female, Astra. Directed by Sasha
Travis, choreographed by Mecca Vazie Andrews, produced by Autumn Fawn
and featuring the story concept by troupe founder David Wilkinson and
original musical compositions by internationally renowned musician Regan
Remy, the Astra Dance Company began solidifying its team with “Astra.”
